Can anyone identify this fungus?

Hi

We found these orange fungi on the Great North Walk on Boxing Day about half way between Berowra Waters and Crosslands Reserve -- as you can see its growing on a fallen tree trunk. The largest sphere is about 5 cm across -- what is it please?
According to your book many are deadly - is this?
